Light green on the top and bottom - "Ontario" in yellow lettering - other lettering in white and dark blue.  The main colored drawing in the center of the map cover features a curved six lane, divided highway with traffic on it.  The skyline of a modern city is in the background and five dark blue outline figures surround the previously described artwork; a businessman in a suit walking; a surveyor looking through his sextant, a road worker with a jack hammer, a fisherman netting a catch and a student in graduation garb.

A color photograph of Highway 69 (later Highway 169) alongside a body of water near Bala.  An over hanging pine tree frames the cover, while other trees have changed to bright fall colors.  The main title of the map is in yellow and white in the blue sky area.  A lone red sedan approaches and additional writing in the bottom portion of the cover is in white.

The main background color of the cover is dark blue.  All text is in white, except the word "ONTARIO" which is in red with white highlighting.  On the right center of the cover is a colored photograph showing the ramps of a multi layered interchange.  There are four colored drawings on the left side of the cover from the top down; a canoe on a stream with four occupants; a lead oxen drawn wagon with others following; a lone rider in a horse drawn buggy and a driver in an old car traveling along rough terrain.

The background is a sky blue color.  A "3 dimensional" colored drawn map of the bodies of water bordering Ontario are represented on the map.  Text is in white and red.  Six small colored drawings are situated on the cover representing activities for the part of the province where they are located.  From top to bottom: a fisherman with a jumping fish on the line; ships beside grain storage elevators; a moose standing near a lake; the Minolta tower in Niagara Falls; Toronto City Hall and a tractor pulling a combine harvesting hay.
