Note: The Garden City Skyway
was constructed from 1960 until it's completion in 1963, when it was
officially opened on October 18th. The Skyway, which is the largest
single structure on the Queen Elizabeth Way, is 5.6 kilometres in length
and is 37.5 meters tall at it's highest point. It was called the
Homer Skyway during construction - after the Homer Bridge across the
Welland Canal that it was replacing - but with the official opening it
became the Garden City Skyway - named after St.
Catharines, which was known as the Garden City.
